Dr. Shad Helmstetter Ph.D. wrote a book called What To Say When You Talk To Yourself. It was his belief that we become what we think and tell ourselves. The book is revolutionary and there are quick and easy methods to stop unwanted thinking/behavior patterns. Our goal should be to “erase and replace” our negative thoughts with ones which will build our success.
The book is amazing, here’s a sneak peak into its contents. Imagine relying on yourself to optimize your outlook, focus your plans, and keep you on top, in touch, and going for it. Your can do it, by adopting the simple techniques of Self-Talk and understanding the power of key phrases like these:
• I choose my thoughts. No thought, at any time, can dwell in my mind without my permission
• I have talents, skills and abilities–and I’m discovering new talents all the time.
• I take time to listen and communicate. I’m patient and understanding, it’s worth working at, and I do.
• I focus my attention on the things I can control. If I can’t affect it or direct it–I accept it.
• I know what I believe in myself is what I will become–so I believe in the best for myself.
The five levels of self-talk are amazing! When you understand the definition of each level it will allow you to recognize what kind of thoughts you are having and how those can work for or against you. This will enable you to move onto higher level of self-talk which will lead you to a more effective and healthier mindset.
Level 1 – Negative Acceptance
The first level of self-talk represents everything from our simplest misgiving to our worst fears. It is when you hesitate, question your capabilities and accept less than you know you could have done if you had only tried. “I can’t” is a perfect example of this level of thinking.
Level 2 – Recognition and Need to Change
This level is characterized by words such as “I need to”, “I ought to” or “I should.” This type of self-talks works against you. It recognizes a problem but creates no solution. For instance, when you say to yourself or to someone else, “I really need to get more organized.” What you are really saying is, “I need to get more organized, but I am not.” When you make a statement like this, it is unconsciously embedded with an unspoken, but it is still a programmed, Level 1 statement of negative self-talk.
Level 3 – Decision to Change
Level 3 self-talk is the first level of self-talk that works for you instead of against you. You recognize the need to change but also you make the decision to do something about it. State a decision in the present tense, as though the change has already taken place. Level 3 is characterized by the phrases such, “I never” or “I no longer.”
Level 4 – The Better You
This is the most effective kind of self-talk. Your thoughts are painting a completely new picture of yourself; the way you really wanted to be. You direct your subconscious to forget all of the negative programming you gave it in the past. You tell yourself you are creating the person you know you can be. “I am organized” or “I eat and live a healthy lifestyle” are some examples of this level.
Level 5 – Universal Affirmation
This level of self-talk has been spoken for thousands of years. It is as old as the Ancient religions that inspired it. It is the self-talk of oneness with God. This level of self-talk speaks of a unity of spirit, a divine and timeless cosmic affinity that transcends all worldly thing and gives meaning to our being. It is the language of those who have conquered their ties to a life of earthbound demand, choose to seek their manifest place in something greater, something beyond the kin of most dwellers but within the reach of their unearthly dream. This level self-talk is characterized by phrases such as, “I am one with the universe and it is one with me.”
When you turn your self-limiting beliefs into challenges it’s not easy. However, once you identify these roadblocks, you find it easier to put your plan into action. Once you create a powerful image of what you want your future to look like, this will become your source of inspiration and motivation. Remember the subconscious is listening…

Lindt’s Unsung Heroes of Autism Contest
The Unsung Heroes of Autism contest is nothing short of brilliant. Lindt, the Master Swiss Chocolatier is honoring everyday people, the unsung heroes of autism whose extraordinary efforts have impacted the autism cause. The contest, now in its third year, has garnered attention that’s been nothing short of remarkable.
For more than 165 years, Lindt has been one of the global leaders in creating premium, Swiss chocolate products. Their blog “Lindt Chocolate Unwrapped” launched late Sept of 2010, an industry first. Lindt’s social media campaign educates and engages chocolate lovers via Facebook, Twitter and email. Thomas Linemayr, CEO and President of Lindt USA shared the following “We are excited to share this ‘inside look’ and hope it interests and educates, as well as fosters more two-way conversations with consumers.”
I am so pleased to see the winners of the contest for The 2011 Lindt Unsung Heroes of Autism have been revealed. The winners were awarded with $5,000 and a trip to New York for an awards luncheon at The New York Palace hotel in their honor on March 30 to kick off the month of April, National Autism Awareness Month.
Kerri Duncan of Springfield, Mo. saw the need in her community to provide quality educational opportunities for those with autism. She opened the Rivendale Center for Autism and Institute of Learning in 2000 and now serves as the school's director. The Center is the only private school for children with autism in southwest Missouri specializing in behavior therapy and intensive individualized instruction and serves 45 students annually.
Connie Erbert of Wichita, Kan. has devoted her entire professional career to improving the lives of those impacted by autism. She’s the director of the Community of Autism Resources and Education program (CARE) at Heartspring, which she founded in 2007. Today, the program is utilized by more than 700 families in the Wichita area and offers consultation services to businesses and school districts. In the spring of 2008, she started the first walk for autism awareness in the Wichita area, which has raised more than $120,000 to date.
Bonnie Gillman of Tustin, Calif., inspired by her 11-year-old grandson, saw a critical role grandparents of children with autism could play in supporting their families. In 2006, Gillman founded the Grandparent Autism Network (GAN), a first-of-its-kind all-volunteer nonprofit organization in Orange County, Calif. dedicated to supporting and providing resources to grandparents of children with autism. Since 2006, she has personally planned and provided 42 cost-free events for GAN's 800 members, their families, and the 34 communities she serves in the county.
Lindt’s unsung heroes from 2009 included Dr. Rebecca Morrison and Mr. Charles Allen. It was their unwavering commitment to the cause and their dedicated contributions to those impacted by autism. Both were instrumental in starting schools for children with autism spectrum disorders. The Heroes received $5,000 toward their efforts in support of the autism cause and were featured in the June issue of Cookie Magazine.
Unsung heroine Dr. Rebecca Morrison of Westerville, Ohio started the state’s only full inclusion school for children with autism spectrum disorders; (grades 2 through 12). In 1999 Oakstone Academy started with 30 students and today serves over 400.
In 2003, Charles Allen from Round Hill, Virginia, along with three other parents, co-founded the Aurora School to address the needs of students with autism that could not be met within the local school system or in a traditional classroom setting. The Aurora School serves students with autism, developmental delay and other health impairments.
Lindt’s unsung heroes from 2010, the second year of contest recognized Lisa Lane, Elizabeth Ritchie and Elizabeth Scheinberg for their remarkable contributions and dedicated commitment to the cause.
It was Lisa Lane of Greenville, S.C. who helped to establish the Project HOPE Foundation to serve those affected by autism. She has been instrumental in the development and growth of HOPE Academy, a non-profit school.
Anyone who’s remotely familiar with Elizabeth Ritchie of Knoxville, Tenn. knows that she has a strong passion for educating others about autism. She is responsible for securing several grants for autism research and education. Ritchie's outstanding commitment and energy has generated significant awareness and furthered the support of autism in her community via school programs and Camp Koinonia Foundation and Breakthrough Corporation.
Known as a dedicated volunteer Elizabeth Scheinberg of Newark, Del. has developed several recreational programs for autistic children in the community including “The Merry Otters” swimming program. A member of the community’s school board her sole aim is to ensure special needs programs receive appropriate attention.
Each Unsung Hero received $5,000 toward their efforts in support of the autism cause and they were featured in the June issue of Parents Magazine.
Did you know that autism is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the U.S., affecting 1 in every 110 American children? More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined. Lindt’s social media campaign has started to pick up steam; the company will donate to Autism Speaks 10¢ with each purchase of a Lindt Gold Bunny, $1 with every Lindt eCard sent, and $1 with every new Lindt Facebook fan. Sweet!

Influence the Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini, Ph.D.
The book “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” was written because the author believed that there is a psychology of compliance. In the introduction he states; “I can admit it freely now. All my life I’ve been a patsy. For as long as I can recall, I’ve been an easy mark for the pitches of peddlers, fund-raisers, and operators of one sort or another.” Masterfully researched and written over the duration of 35 years, the book explains the psychology of why people say “yes” and how to apply this understanding to everyday life. As consumers, we like to think that we can’t be easily fooled by a salesperson. However, the book proves that we are being “sucked in” everyday to buy things we don’t want or need.
Compliance tactics used in the field of sales, fundraising and advertising, unveiled the six universal principles of ethical persuasion. The book explains the psychological triggers that influence people to comply with requests, and covers how these triggers are used. Use them to become a skilled persuader, or defend yourself against them. Hopefully, the principles will move the reader toward personal change, and act as a driving force for success.
Simple truths
Expensive implies quality Turquoise jewellery, in the peak of tourist season [marked half price] wasn’t selling. The store’s employee then mistakenly marked up the jewellery by doubling the price. Within a week the jewellery completely sold out. If it’s expensive, it has got to be good.
Power of Contrast If you go into a men’s store the sales people always try to sell you an expensive suit before they sell you the expensive sweater, shirt or tie. The power of contrast makes the other items appear to be more affordable.
Power of Reason People are more likely to agree to a request if a reason is given.
The following emotional methods are used to persuade/sell products and services to consumers.
The six psychological influences that direct human behavior include:
1. Reciprocation
2. Commitment and Consistency
3. Social Proof
4. Liking
5. Authority
6. Scarcity
1. Reciprocity. If the person who’s selling raffle tickets buys you a coffee, you’re more likely to buy raffle tickets from them. The laws of reciprocation prove that the person, after being offered something will feel obligated to buy something even if they are not interested.
2. Commitment. Make a commitment to achieve something, once the commitment is made there is a strong desire to remain consistent to it. People like and believe in commitment, their image and reputation is what is at stake. From early on we are taught to always keep our promises. Our ingrained responses will have negative connotations if we fail to keep these commitments.
3. Social Proof. Simply put, the idea that if others do it it’s good. People follow the crowd because they believe in the wisdom of it. Assign responsibility. If you want things done tell someone to do it, otherwise, everyone will just assume that it’s being done.
4. Liking. Attractiveness, similarity, compliments, contact and cooperation can make a person more influential. Most of us say yes to the requests of those we like. The marketing of Tupperware might as well be called viral marketing. People were more likely to buy the product if they liked the person selling it to them.
5. Authority. When faced with a decision people to take the lead from people with authority. Authority can be real or imaginary; people tend to buy from people who have professional titles. Other authority figures include celebrity product endorsements or con artists who use expensive cars and tailored suits to sell every type of product.
6. Scarcity. A psychological reaction is attached to this concept; people don’t want to lose. A college student purchased second hand cars, polished them, and advertised them for sale at a distinctly higher price than what he’d paid. His secret weapon? He asked everyone who responded to his ad to arrive at the same time. The first guy to arrive was shown the car and while he was looking another prospective buyer would arrive. Then another. The first guy would be told a line is forming and given a few more minutes to make up his mind. You could imagine the anxiety that built up in the potential buyers’ minds. If the first guy did not buy, the second one almost always did.
Fortunately, Cialdini concludes each chapter with hints on “How to say no”. No matter how intelligent consumers are, they have undoubtedly fallen for many of these techniques used deliberately or accidentally. How many poor business investment decisions, product purchases, or strategic moves have been influenced by non-rational factors? Thank goodness automatic, mindless decisions are now a thing of the past!

Manifest Money Fast!
Do you have your heart set on the concept of how to manifest money fast? Don’t worry you’re not alone. It’s a concept that’s easier said than done, or is it? Only you can decide. Do you ever look at others and think they must have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth? The reality is that many successful people started with no money, no connections, no experience, and no education of any kind in their field. The most important aspect of manifesting money is to approach it from the right mindset. Think of your mindset as one that describes the relationship to the activity of attracting money. How would you describe that relationship? Is it fueled by hunger, ambition, drive, ‘diamond in the rough’ individualism, or is it based on greed, need, excitement, or hope?
There’s a process that’s involved when you want to manifest more money, and it doesn’t come from a place of scarcity. If you subscribe to this belief you are not likely to succeed. That’s the recipe for attracting nothing — and you can actually make things worse by attracting unwanted expenses, too.
A much better way to tackle this is to come from a place of curiosity and experimentation. What appears to work best is those that have unwavering faith in themselves, their belief system and in their country. Those who have succeeded are those who never accepted ‘no’, never given up, never stopped believing in themselves, or their dreams. There is always something or someone with you every step of the way. It’s the force that pushes you forward, and it comes when you let it in. With this mindset you begin to generate some interesting results.
Another thing I want to share with you is when you want to manifest money, it’s important to know that it’s already there. Money is hiding in plain sight, and it’s waiting for you to notice it. There are many opportunities that will help you generate cash.
Many self-made entrepreneurs knew that the cash and the opportunities were right in front of their face. They simply adjusted their “eyes” to see them. You can accomplish this as well change your thoughts and emotions — to one that’s capable of detecting where the money is.
It’s like shifting gears and having a different perception that you just couldn’t see. And, the reason you just couldn’t see it before because you just weren’t really looking that hard for it. In order to manifest money, you need to realize that it starts and stops with your personal mindset for success.
When we think that money isn’t there it’s a limiting belief. Wealth Masters Internal helped me shift my beliefs. When I stopped thinking of how to manifest money as being something outside my control (relying on pure luck or chance), and I began thinking of what I could control (my open-mindedness and attentiveness), and major shifts started to happen in my life.
The thought of manifesting money into my life didn’t always register in my mind. So what exactly was my concept of having money and wealth? I was raised to believe that money is the root of all evil. What I now know is that nothing could be further from the truth. Even if you are not motivated by money to attain great material things in life, what about the concept of acquiring great things so that you can give back and create success and wealth in others? We are really talking now about the principal of dynamic wealth creation.
The concept of manifesting money is something that people have completely backwards. It’s the key and a real focus of everything we do here at Wealth Masters International. Most people believe that they make a lot of money and once they have a lot of money they will become more philanthropic. They will begin to form foundations, or give to charities or giving more time in their local communities. Once you understand this powerful concept by creating wealth in others that it comes back to you ten fold. This concept, once it’s understood will have you helping others first. You see, if this concept truly works I can tell you from anyone I’ve ever respected, every author I’ve ever read, every personal mentor I’ve ever had, everyone in my mastermind group, I have seen this happen in their life. They understand the concept about giving back first. This helps you understand what the personal money mindset is about in regards to wealth creation. It’s found in the wisdom of Wayne Dyer: “Prosperity in the form of wealth works exactly the same as everything else. You will see it coming into your life when you are unattached to needing it.”

Abundance Mindset = Abundance and Prosperity
We all want abundance and prosperity in life. We want to be remembered as honest, successful and ethical, hardworking people that left this planet a better place than when we found it. We want the kind of prosperity that allows us to leave a real legacy for our children, for our grandchildren, and their children and their grandchildren. But how we can talk about creating abundance when it seems we live in a world of limited resources?
Let me ask you an honest question, when was the last time that you heard someone say how excited they were about the legacy that they were leaving? And about how they were going to be remembered for generations to come? It’s just not happening! People are burdened by the stresses and responsibilities of their life today to even think about living a life of abundance. When you invest in yourself you will be amazed to look back on the abundance you have attracted into your life. In order to do this you need to start to see that there are opportunities everywhere.
When did we decide that we would give up so many of our core values in order to have the material things that give us the appearance of living a happy and fulfilled life? Abundance doesn’t require unlimited physical resources, but rather unlimited resources to have the proper mindset. There is no suitable replacement for abundance when we look at the wealth, health and wisdom areas of our life. People want the best out of life, while not sacrificing their core values and principles. In order to achieve this we must truly understand the concept of abundance.
Abundance isn’t about having more. It’s about coming to terms with what we truly value and realizing that we can in fact create that value if we put our minds and hearts into it.
Do you want to live the life of your dreams, or live a life of limitations? Wayne Allen Root believes if you unlock your own potential you can create the life of your dreams. How does he know? He’s living the American Dream right now! He designs his life by going after what he truly desires, even if that conflicts with what he explicitly asks for. He’s just a blue-collar guy who is just willing to roll up his sleeves and go to work. Every time he hits a brick wall or falls he just gets back up on his feet again. He takes the ball and runs with it. His story is inspirational, just like so many others in Wealth Masters International.
To create an abundance mindset, you need to start appreciating all the goodness that’s right in front of you, some of us have not been able pause and appreciate it until now.
Many think that scarcity in the world is a bad thing, I don’t agree with that mindset. Why? We need to see scarcity in order to grow. Although it’s disturbing to see news stories of war, we appreciate what peace really means. When you see people being treated unfairly you learn to appreciate exactly what is fair. When we see disease we appreciate our own health. The lessons we learn in areas of wealth, health and wisdom are that scarcity is not your teacher, abundance is!
Scarcity is something people perceive. It’s a perception that needs to be altered. Try for a moment to feel the sense of things you are lacking in your life right now. And when you’ve learned the lesson, the key is to withdraw your power from it, and use it to create the abundance you truly desire in life.
Interestingly enough, the more I remember these lessons, the less often scarcity shows up in my life as a personal teacher. I’m able to make better choices with respect to abundance as opposed to making choices on the basis of scarcity. What gives me the greatest feeling of happiness is taking time to appreciate the good things in my life. This had nothing to do with things, and has everything to do with how I am using my own power. So, welcome to the world of unlimited resources!

An Amazing Secret; Think and Grow Rich
For more than a decade now, I’ve enjoyed and literally devoured personal development info. Why? I believe there is an amazing secret that holds the keys to success in all areas of my life in regards to health, wealth and wisdom. One timeless audio program I recently listened to is Napolean Hill’s Keys to Success: the 17 Principles of Personal Achievement. I own a number of Napolean’s audio programs (Think and Grow Rich is my favorite), so I really enjoyed this one too as it builds upon his best seller. What I love best is his no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is style. Think and Grow Rich was published in 1937, but I found that most of the ideas are timeless and relevant today. The amazing “secret” can be summed up in ten words: Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe it can achieve.
The secret isn’t a new idea. In fact, Think and Grow Rich is the No. 1 selling book of the century on personal wealth and lasting success. And it certainly isn’t a unique idea either. It’s a concept that has been expanded upon by Marc Allen’s The Millionaire Course, which extols the virtues “Within every adversity is an equal or greater benefit”, or James Allen’s As a Man Thinketh who believed “He who has conquered doubt and fear has conquered failure.”
Not many people would argue that our thoughts control our actions and that our actions control our results. Everything initially begins with a thought. What people often fail to realize is that we have the power to consciously choose our thoughts. Do you ever find your mind continually going over the same thoughts time and time again? If we start choosing to spend time thinking about different things on a consistent basis we can begin to shift our actions in different directions and acquire new results.
Thoughts are like the seeds we plant. If we want different results in life, we have to figure out which thoughts are capable of growing those results and which aren’t. Then we have to consciously fill our mind with the correct thoughts and weed out the incorrect thoughts. People are burdened by the stresses and responsibilities of their life today to even think about living a life of abundance. But thinking that way won’t get you to the place(s) you want to go.
Dr. Napolean Hill says “Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe it can achieve.” It’s through this knowledge and the application of it that and faith in our God given abilities that true empowerment lies. This empowerment can only be obtained, by stretching yourself, and testing your ability reach your full potential. Why would anyone settle for anything less?
Some positive thoughts I think will help you if you are thinking of starting your own business.
There may be risks involved, but I believe in myself, and whatever obstacles come my way, I’ll overcome them.
I’d rather spend my life working hard to build my own business than to build someone else’s. If I’m going to build a business no matter what, it might as well be my own.
The freedom of being my own boss is extremely attractive to me. Imagine being able to decide how to spend my time every minute of every day.
I can only get so far income-wise as an employee. If I want to hit it rich, I need to go into business for myself.
It takes a lot of hard work to build a business. But the right thoughts are the first step. I could have just as easily used the example of quitting smoking, losing weight, or getting out of debt.
If you find yourself in a situation where you want new results in your life (i.e. something other than what you’re currently experiencing), then the first step is to examine your thoughts. The odds are probably better than 95% that if you’re not making progress, then you’re probably thinking the wrong thoughts and need to replace them with new ones. For example, you won’t become a debt free by thinking thoughts like, “Understanding how I control spending money is hard.”
When you start thinking new thoughts, the most common initial reaction is that you’ll feel a great deal of doubt about them. Use your imagination to push past the doubt and keep working on it. See that new reality working out beautifully, even if you have no idea how it could possibly work in the real world. After about 2-3 weeks of this, you’ll start to actually believe in those new thoughts. And that’s when you’ll feel the urge to start taking action. Be patient with yourself, and let your imagination guide you. Albert Einstein believed, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Be Proactive vs. Be Reactive; You Decide
“Be Proactive” is habit #1 from Dr. Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. But what exactly does being proactive really mean to most of us? Taking conscious control over your life, and setting goals and working to achieve them. Do you want to react to events and wait for opportunities, or go out and create your own events and opportunities?
Being proactive means that instead of reacting to events, you can consciously engineer your own events.
Many people think reactively. It can become a challenge and that’s all there is to a person’s life — nothing more than instinctively reacting to stimuli.
Stephen Covey points out that there’s a gap between stimulus and response, and within that gap lies the potential for us to choose our response. There are four special human endowments that give us this power:
Self-awareness – the understanding that you do have a choice between stimulus and response. If someone insults you, you can choose not to become angry.
Conscience – the ability to consult your inner compass to decide what is right for you. You can make decisions based on unchanging principles, regardless of what is socially favored at that time.
Creative Imagination – the ability to visualize alternative responses. By using your imagination, you can mentally generate and evaluate different options.
Independent Will – You have the freedom to choose your own unique response. You aren’t forced to conform to what others expect from you.
Some spend too much time in a state of low consciousness and never reach the level of awareness necessary to make proactive life decisions. Has your conscience has become confused by society’s conditioning? Are you sure what you want from life? Do you look to others to decide how you should feel? It can be a challenge to visualize alternatives, but also necessary not to be restricted by the pressures to conform to others’ expectations.
On some level there’s proof that exists we’re always reacting to events, whether they be on an external or internal level. The difference between proactivity and reactivity can then be viewed in terms of what degree of “mental processing” occurs during the gap between stimulus and response. A proactive person will apply the four human endowments to choose a response (or not to choose one). What’s key is that a proactive person will invest the time to make conscious life choices and follow through on them.
Reactive people tend to be out of touch with their core values. Instead of running their lives based on unchanging core principles, they pick up temporary values from others. If no special opportunities come their way, they’ll stay at the same job year after year. They go with the flow of the people and circumstances, but they don’t direct the flow. Their life is mostly lived on autopilot.
Proactive people, are aware of their core values. They consciously make key decisions based on those values. They create their own opportunities and direct the flow of their own lives. Even when things are pretty good, they’re still making conscious choices. Proactive people will take actions that often seem mysterious to reactive people. They may suddenly quit their job to start a new business, even though everything seemed to be going well for them. A proactive person will still pay attention to external events, but they’ll pilot themselves to their desired destination regardless of those events.
Powerful examples of reactive vs. proactive language:
• Where is the industry going? [Where shall I go next, and how will I get there?]
• I don’t have time to exercise. [How shall I make time to exercise?]
• How much money can I expect to make if I do X? [How much money do I want to make, and what will I do to earn it?]
• I’ll try it and see what happens. [I'll do it.]
• Nothing really inspires me. [What would I tackle if I knew I couldn't fail?]
• What is the meaning of life? [What is the meaning I wish to give to my life?]
Everyone has a mixture of both proactivity and reactivity. You can be extremely proactive in one area, while other parts of your life have slipped into unconscious autopilot. Take time to use your human endowments of self-awareness, conscience, creative imagination, and independent will to shine a light on the areas of your life you’d like to work on and consciously choose to get things moving. If you don’t like where the currents are taking you, then change course. Don’t wait for an opportunity to arrive; engineer your own!
